The Lilac Project

The Lilac Project is a musical duo comprised of best friends and Woodside alums, Kadian Smith ('24) and Marisa Mendez ('24). They officially formed in 2023,  but have been writing music together since eighth grade, writing songs over text and video calls during the pandemic to feel closer and cope with it all. Their debut song, “Snow Angel,” was written in between classes during the stressful time of college applications—it’s a love letter to the Bay Area where they grew up together. Separated at different colleges, they continue to write music to bridge the distance. Recording "Snow Angel" started in 2024 while Marisa & Kadian were still WHS students with follow up sessions conducted during breaks from college.
