Woodside, CA — [Release Date] — 1.99 Records, a student-run record label & club at Woodside High School, is proud to announce the release of new original music written, produced and promoted entirely by student artists and club members.
The releases showcase the talent and creativity of students involved in the club, featuring original songs by Camille Sage, Amelia Mae and The Lilac Project, spanning genres such as R&B, Alt-Country and Folk. Students led the process for everything from songwriting, production and recording, instrumental performance, to branding, marketing, and distribution. “These releases represent months, and in a couple cases, years of hard work and collaboration,” said Camille Sonnenburg, founder & president of the label. “Releasing our music makes everything we’ve learned in class feel more real.”
“I’m really proud of the kids and their dedication to these songs,” said Raphael Kauffmann, the club’s advisor and WHS Music/Audio production teacher. “It’s a testament to the community this club has developed that even graduates have come back to contribute their talents.”
The record label grew out of Woodside’s Music/Audio Production program with the goal of giving students real-world experience in the music business while fostering creativity, teamwork, and leadership. The new releases reflect the club’s mission to amplify student voices and provide opportunities for young artists to develop both creatively and professionally.
The music will be available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music beginning [release date]. Music videos for some of the songs were made by Woodside’s Film program and are up on the 1.99 Records Youtube channel.
